Will Smith has shared the first official picture from the set of the long-awaited third instalment of the Bad Boys franchise to the delight of its fans.

Bad Boys for life is set to release on January 17th 2020 and the picture shows the iconic duo composed by Detective Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, respectively interpreted by Smith and Martin Lawrence, together again after almost 17 years.

The first look was announced via a video posted on Will Smith’s Instagram account captioned: “FIRST LOOK! Theeeeey’re BAAAAaaaack! :-)”.

In the video, Martin and Lawrence pose dressed as their characters while P. Diddy’s song Bad Boys For Life plays in the background.  Within an hour of being posted, the announcement video had more than 1.7 million views and an equal amount of love from the fans.

The background appears to be that of a hotel room and by the look of it, many people are speculating that this third part will be based in Miami, Florida just like the previous two movies.

Viking’s Alexander Ludwig, High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens franchise and Riverdale’s Charles Melton will apparently be joining the cast as “a modern, highly specialized police unit” that clashes with old-school policemen Mike and Marcus.

The Bad Boys threequel has had to overcome many obstacles before its production started. Up until 2017, Martin Lawrence said that the third part would never be made. However, in late 2018, he and Smith confirmed that they would reprise their roles in a new instalment.

Will Smith took to Instagram earlier this month to announce the start for the shooting of the movie. He captioned the post: “First Day of Shooting tomorrow! We watched @BadBoys 1 & 2 together over the weekend. It’s about to be KRAZY! #badboysforlife”.

Since then, he has posted one more photo documenting his time while shooting.
