Riverdale Shuts Down Production After Star Luke Perry’s Death Suffering From Major Stroke

Luke Perry, the Riverdale star, unfortunately, died this Monday after suffering a major stroke last Wednesday.

Production of the series has reportedly been shut down after the death news of Luke Perry.

The 52-year-old American actor was considered to be the star of the series Riverdale, based on the characters of Archie Comics. Luke played the role of Fred Andrews, the father of Archie Andrews, on the CW series. The show was released on 26 January 2017 and Perry was a part of the show since its very beginning.

According to a report from PEOPLE, Luke got hospitalized on February 27 from his home in Sherman Oaks, California. He never regained his consciousness in the duration of five days, being under observation, and left the world on Monday, March 4.

As soon as the news of Luke’s being hospitalized got spread, many of the co-actors from his current show, including – Marisol Nichols, Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse started sharing messages on their respective social media accounts, expressing their concerns.

The executive producers of Riverdale – Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Jon Goldwater, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, also including Warner Bros and CW, both expressed their grief by sharing a joint statement confirming that they would temporarily put a pause at the work on the third season of Riverdale, thereby, giving tribute to the actor.

They shared the message: “We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”

Variety confirmed that the production house for Riverdale was, as per the team’s words, completely closed on Tuesday.

Twitter was flooded by the number of tweets shared by Luke’s fans, friends as well as co-actors.

The thing that, what would be the next decision of Riverdale production is to keep the series future episodes on track, is yet suspense for all of us, but the void created by the absence of Sir Luke Perry is surely inevitable.
