The Marvel Cinematic Universe may have made the biggest catch of the year as Angelina Jolie is reportedly in talks to join the cast of a new upcoming movie based on “The Eternals” comics.
Although no official statement has been released yet, according to studio head Kevin Feige, Marvel is ready to move forward with a new series of projects called “Phase 4” after the much-loved Avengers saga comes to an end this April.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, “The Eternals” plot will revolve around the story of Sersi, the character supposedly played by Angelina Jolie, who is part of a group of immortal humans with alien superpowers.
The movie will be directed by Chloe Zhao and cousins Matthew and Ryan Firpo will serve as screenwriters.
Starring in a Marvel’s movie is a first for Angelina Jolie, even though she has played numerous roles for the Disney family during her long and proficuous career. Unforgettable are her role as Lara Croft in the original “Tomb Raider” adaptation and her portrayal of Sleeping Beauty’s villain “Maleficent” in the 2014 homonymous movie.
At the moment, Jolie is busy working on many projects such as upcoming fairytale “Come Away”, a story which blends together the worlds of Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan, and the Maleficent sequel, “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”.
