DC Universe Unveils First Look of Brec Bassinger as 'Stargirl' at WonderCon

DC Comics has released the first official picture of “Stargirl”, the new live-action show which will be released on the upcoming streaming and digital reading service called “DC Universe”.

The image shows the titular heroine, Stargirl, played by School of Rock actress Brec Bassinger, striking a pose in her costume.  The revelation took place on Friday at WonderCon.

Created by Geoff Johns, the character is inspired by his sister who died in a plane crash.

The story revolves around Courtney Whitmore, a high schooler with a tough life who has to move to Blue Valley, Nebraska when her mother marries her stepdad, Pat. Courtney’s life changes when she finds out Pat used to be Stripesy, the sidekick of famous superhero Starman. The young girl decides to borrow his old equipment to become Stargirl and fight criminals.

Also starring in the show are Luke Wilson as Pat, Amy Smart as Courtney’s mom Barbara, Joel Mchale as Starman/Sylvester Pemberton, Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman, Trae Romano as Courtney’s stepbrother, Henry Thomas as Charles McNider/ Dr Mid-Nite, Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Hourman and Anjelika Washington in a still unknown role.

Stargirl is expected to debut in 2020.
