According to a report, Hillbilly Elegy is now directed by Ron Howard. The shape of water writer Vanessa Taylor will adapt the screenplay. Haley Bennett, Glenn Close, and Gabriel Basso are also in the cast.
In the story, Vance grows up among the working-class “hillbillies”. After enlisting in the Marine Corps and serving in Iraq, he graduates from Ohio State University and Yale Law School. He becomes a successful venture capitalist, contributes to the National Review and joins CNN as a political contributor.
The film describes his upbringing and family background in a family from a small town in Ohio. He writes about a family history of poverty and low-paying, physical jobs that have since disappeared or worsened in their guarantees.
