The first official trailer of the live-action sonic movie Sonic the Hedgehog is out now and is available to have a look.
The cast of the movie includes actors like Jim Carry, Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Natasha Rothwell, Neil Mcdonough and many more. The movie is said to be produced at a budget of ninety million and is produced by Neil H Moritz, Takeshi Ito, Mie Onishi, and Toru Nakahara.
The movie is based on the video game series of the same name which was published by Sega. Paramount Pictures is distributing the movie and it is said to be an adventure comedy movie.
Sony first acquired the rights to the video game character for a movie adaption back in 2013. But the project never took off and the rights went to paramount in 2017 who started making the movie. The shooting is now completed and is all set for release despite some minor fan backlash about the appearance of Sonic.
The story is written by Van Robichaux and Evan Susser, and Ben Schwartz is providing the voice of Sonic, the title character. Jim Carry will give life to the character of Sonic’s nemesis Doctor Robotnik. Jim Carry seems to be at his usual comedic flair playing the character.
The film is set for its release on 8th of November in the United States.
The movie’s trailer has not met with all positive reaction. A major backlash in fans was seen after the release of the trailer about the appearance of the character to which the movie director, Jeff Fowler, has assured the fans that changes to the character will be made.
The trailer of the movie featured a CGI version of the hedgehog and fans are not happy with it. Keith Stuart of the Guardian described it as “a 200mph slap in the face” and said the central character “resembles a cheap knock-off Sonic toy your child might win at a fairground stand and then be terrified of”. The movie’s director Jeff Fowler answering this criticism assured the fans that changes will be made in the appearance of the hedgehog.
Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast ?✌️
