The Big Bang Theory stated as the longest-running multi-camera comedy on the CBS network. This American tv show has 12 seasons and 275 episodes over its course of almost twelve years.
The show has been quite popular since its very first episode aired in September of 2007.
The show is about four nerdy physicists, two of whom live together and their next-door neighbor, Penny. The original cast included Jim Person’s Sheldon ‘Shelly’ Cooper, Johnny Galecki’s Leonard Hofstadter, Kaley Cuoco’s Penny, Simon Helberg’s Howard Wolowitz and Kunal Nayyar’s Rajesh Kuthrapalli.
Melissa Rauch’s Bernadette Rostenkowski and Mayim Bialik’s Amy Farrah Fowler later joined the cast to be the permanent members of the Big Bang family.
Last year before the 12th season of the series was premiered it was announced that this will be the very last season of the series. On Thursday the cast and crew finished filming the last episode of the show. It is the second half of a two-part finale to the series and it will be aired on 16th May.
The main reason for the show to end despite its popularity is said to be its main actor Jim Persons. Jim has been playing the role of Sheldon Cooper for 12 years now and seems like he wants to move on to something new.
Persons apparently rejected a 50 million dollar deal for signing a contract for the next two seasons of the show. The shows creator Chuck Norris supported Jim’s decision and decided to not continue the show without Sheldon.
The rest of the cast is also very positive with the ending of the show. Kaley Cuoco, Mayim Bialik, and Kunal Nayyar showed their thankfulness to be a part of the show and expressed their sadness at the end came near through their social media and personal blog. But they also acknowledged the fact that the show had to end sometime, and this is as good a time as ever.
Sheldon Cooper, however, won’t go away from Tv any time soon. A spinoff of The Big Bang Theory has already aired. The spinoff is titled Young Sheldon and it is about Sheldon Cooper at a young age. The story is about hardship he endured to become the genius and annoying physicist.

I'm sitting in the set where it all began for me, ten years ago, watching the taping of the final episode of the show. It's poetic and heartbreaking and beautiful that my journey with @bigbangtheory_cbs is coming full circle tonight. I don't have the words to properly express my gratitude and love, but I'll try. To my friends in the cast, crew, and writer's room: thank you for everything; not just the work and the wonderful experience as an actor, but for welcoming me into your family, and being such a huge part of my life. I'm going to miss you so much. I'm not crying, you're crying.
The spinoff is already on its second season and it also includes Jim Persons as a narrator.
