Empire star Jussie Smollett scandal has become a talk of the town now. Recently the Cook County Judge passed the declaration of having publicized all the documents related to the case of Jussie Smollett due to public’s demand based on Freedom of Information Act.
Actor Jussie Smollett filed a complaint about being attacked in late January. He claimed that he was doused with some bleach-like substance and was a subject to a hate attack for being black and homosexual. The attackers slurred some racist and homophobic comments and reportedly yelled This is MAGA Country.
Per his reports, this happened late at night around 2 am when he left from a Subway restaurant in the Windy City, Chicago.
According to the statement of the Chicago Police Department, a handler at 911 received a call at 2:22 am that night from Jussie Smollett’s manager Frank Gatson.
He requested the police to come by, resisting to reveal the identity of Smollett in the call he added,
“I work for an artist. I don’t really want to say his name.”
As per the law, the police cannot take any action if they do not receive any report or filed a request from the victim to do so. Hence the handler from the department’s end told him that only Smollett can report the crime.
Gatson elaborated the situation. Per his statement, he was not sure but he thought like the attackers have startled the actor. He continued:
“I don’t know what it is. They put a noose around his neck.”
He confirmed that the attackers did not do anything further with the noose around Jussie Smollett’s neck.
“That’s pretty f—ked up” he added and also apologized for saying it like that.
When the officer asked him why Smollett did not call the police, Gatson stated that Smollett wanted to be cool about it. According to his statement, Jussie Smollett did not want to get the police involved. However, he ensured that the actor will file a complaint. He also said that he would make Smollett file report.
After some investigations, it was revealed that the actor Jussie Smollett had staged this attack against him. Osundairo brothers, the alleged attackers, gave a statement to the police confirming that all the attack fuss was staged by the actor himself.
Based on their statement, the Chicago Police filed a case against Jussie Smollett for 16 felony charges in the Cook County Court of Chicago. After a voluntary forfeiture of bonds worth $10000 and a couple of days of community service, the state prosecutor reportedly dropped all the 16 charges against Smollett that enraged the state.
All this scandal led to death threats to the prosecutor Kim Foxx who is reportedly responsible for dropping all the charges and costed her state prosecutor’s job.
