One Republic to Now Contact Fans via Text

OneRepublic have shared with their fans a mobile number through which they’ll be able to contact and communicate with them directly.

The band has posted the number on their social media accounts along with an explanation of this new commercial idea, thanks to which they are allowed to easily text fans in a specif area to share information regarding new merch, shows, songs or just to say hello.

The lead vocalist and songwriter of the group, Rayn Tedder, who often collaborates with other artists such as Taylor Swift, Adele, Ed Sheeran, and Beyonce, also shared an Instagram post emphasizing how beneficial it would be to be able to contact fans, either as single units or as groups, from certain cities and sharing only information which is relevant to them.

He wrote: “Telling people in New York City that we have a show coming in Seattle doesn’t make sense… […] We can send and receive messages and we all have access to the phone #… It won’t be every day because that would be annoying but it will be frequent, love you guys.”

Not a gimmick- for years and years anytime we want to tell certain cities or certain “groups” of fans about specific events or concerts or even just “hey there” in THEIR city – We do a post on IG or Twitter… And everybody around the world is forced to see it, which doesn’t make sense… Telling people in New York City that we have a show coming in Seattle doesn’t make sense… This is a real phone number that allows us to text you specifically when we are in your area or have any new songs, shows, merch, or LITERALLY just venting or talking like normal people do via text message… it allows us to aim what we are saying to you specifically instead of talking to everyone all the time. We can send and receive messages and we all have access to the phone #… It won’t be every day because that would be annoying but it will be frequent, love you guys.

Recently, Tedder shared his thoughts over the copyright issues within the industry these days during an interview with the BBC. He said how in almost every writing session, he and the other members of the band and the crew had to discuss the topic, and how pop music risks to be constrained by laws and limitations as well as by the high risk of getting sued.

One Republic are going to perform in the pre-game show of the Premiership Grand Finals organised by the Australian National Rugby League (NRL) on October 6th at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

About the One Republic’s performance NRL’s Chief Commerical Officer, Andrew Abdo said: “They are known for their live performances over many years and they’ll be well suited to this fantastic show.”

Tickets for the NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Finale are currently on sale, visit the NRL or the One Republic official website to purchase them.
