The ‘Fast & Furious’ spin-off focuses on the characters Luke Hobbs played by Dwyane Johnson and Deckard Shaw played by Jason Statham. Dwayne Johnson’s character is a Diplomatic Security Service Agent and Jason Statham’s character is a former British military operative.
Both the leads team up against Brixton Lore played by Idris Elba, to prevent Lore from using a bio-threat which could be disastrous for humanity.
In an interview when asked about his character Jason Statham said “I think Shaw was sort of misunderstood when he first came on to the screen in the early Fast & Furious, and as we start to unravel what he’s all about, we come to understand that he really isn’t a villain, but you don’t need to get on the wrong side of him. He’s very resourceful, and he’s quite an intense character.”

So grateful to everyone for your support and creating this nice momentum for our little spin-off @hobbsandshaw. $333M in just our first week of box office and the #1 movie in the world, again – ain’t too bad. Thank you for making this such an exciting first week. And remember, the best way to shut the mouth of a 🤡 is to flex with success and a smile. 😉💪🏾💀 @sevenbucksprod
After the ‘Avengers: Endgame’, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ and ‘The Wandering Earth’, ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ comes in next on the list for the biggest opening in China.
‘Fast and Furious 7’ in 2015 and ‘Fast and Furious 8’ in 2018 did amazingly well too, making $391 million and $392 respectively, these both predecessors of ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ also earned significantly in China too.
Since the franchise has an already established huge fanbase, it served well to ‘Hobbs & Shaw’. Another factor which might be the reason for its massive success in China is the lack of summer releases there which has clearly benefitted the opening of ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ in China.
‘Fast and Furious’ first came out in 2001 and received great reviews leading to the evolution of the much-loved Fast and Furious franchise making it natural for it to introduce a spin-off.
The spin-off also has surprise appearances by Reynolds and Kevin Hart which obviously must have been a treat for the audiences.
The blockbuster movie is directed by David Leitch who also directed ‘Deadpool 2’, the written by Chris Morgan and alongside Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are renowned actors Idris Elba and Venessa Kirby is out now.
