Sandy Hook Organization released a video the effectively portrays the fear children must be living in, with there always being a probability of a shooting in schools. The video emphasizes the need for training for the children to know how to react to such unfortunate situations.

The Sandy Hook Promise is a non-profit organization based in Connecticut, which was founded by the family members of the 20 children and six staff members who lost their lives at the Sandy Hook Elementary School on 14th December in 2012, when an armed individual began shooting with a semiautomatic rifle. With an intent to honor the victims of gun violence by providing resources such as programs beneficial in protecting youth and preventing loss of precious lives.

The video begins with a boy showing off his new school necessity- a school bag, then moves on where a boy shows his new shoes but starts running in fear, continuing with another kid using a skateboard to break a glass window in order to escape and a girl sends a parting message to her mom conveying her love while she can. The video shows how children are using back-to-school appliances to survive. Through the “Know the Signs” program the organization aims to make individuals be able to recognize the warning signs and steps that can be helpful for them.

In a statement Mark Barden, the co-founder of Sandy Hook Promise said “This is what our kids are having to think about now, and they shouldn’t be.
